About the course

Iron Knob Golf Club is in the township of Iron Knob on the north-east of the Eyre Peninsula, at the foot of the iron ore mine the town grew up around. Iron Knob began as a miners' housing settlement between the late 1800s and early 1900s and was proclaimed a township in February 1915; the mine, among the oldest still active in Australia, is now operated by SIMEC. The town sits outside any local council area, and its visitor services are run by volunteers of the Iron Knob Progress Association.

The course has nine holes, set below the mountain. Par and green fees are not published online.

An 18-hole competition is played every Sunday from April to October, starting at 12 noon sharp. The club describes itself as family friendly and welcomes new members; contact details are on the Iron Knob Progress Association website.

The clubhouse has air-conditioned club rooms with a full bar, a pool table and indoor and outdoor entertaining areas, and the club caters for functions. The bar opens from 6pm on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and from 6pm to 9pm on Sundays. Bingo is played at the club every Wednesday from 7pm.
