About the course

Loxton Golf Club plays at Loxton North, about 8 kilometres from Loxton, on a site it has used since 1951. Members laid out the first course and have developed it largely from their own funds. In 1963 the layout was revised after advice from Vern Morcom, then course curator at Kingston Heath, and in 1976 Adelaide's Brian Crafter designed 18 grass greens, most of which are still in play.

The 18-hole course has irrigated fairways that play well all year and are usually at their best in winter. Sand bunkers feature on 10 holes, grassy mounds surround most greens, and mature Aleppo pines and gums line the fairways. The 1st is a gentle dogleg right to a green that slopes from right to left, the 9th climbs uphill to a green with no bunkers, and the 18th doglegs left to a green bunkered on both sides, in full view of the clubhouse verandah. Slope ratings are 126 from the blue tees, 124 from the white and 121 from the red.

The course is public access and open seven days a week except during major events. Visitor green fees are $49 for 18 holes and $35 for nine, or $40 and $20 when playing with a member, and school-age juniors pay $20 and $15. Carts cost $45 for 18 holes and $30 for nine, and pull carts $5. Pay at the honour box at the clubhouse entrance or by tap and go; two self-service Vendi carts are available every day. Competitions run daily and are entered on the clubhouse touchscreen. Bookings are made through the online enquiry form, or by phone for rounds within 48 hours. The Loxton Open is played on the last weekend of July.

Practice facilities are near the clubhouse. The licensed, air-conditioned clubhouse seats 120, and the bar opens daily from 9am, staying open until 7pm on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Powered, pet-friendly caravan sites with showers and toilets are available at the course.

Carts $45/18, $30/9; with member $40/18; honour box and tap & go. Junior attending school $20 for 18 holes, $15 for 9 holes.
