About the course
Mannum Golf Club is on Douglas Street in the River Murray town of Mannum, about 85 kilometres, or just over an hour, from Adelaide. The club acknowledges support from the Mid Murray Council and serves a local catchment of fewer than 3,000 people, with many visitors coming from Adelaide.
The course has nine holes with two sets of tees, so an 18-hole round plays each hole twice from different tees. Fairways and greens are fully watered, river gums frame the holes, and there are few bunkers and no water hazards, although the natural rough punishes wayward shots. Mannum gets noticeably less rain than metropolitan courses, so it is often playable in winter when city courses are wet.
Visitors and groups are welcome outside members' competition times, which are on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings. Visitors with a valid Golf Link number can enter club competitions, and a social ambrose group tees off on Sunday afternoons (2pm in winter and 4pm in summer) that is open to the public. The club notes that green fee players must give way to competition fields and that the course may close for special events, so it is worth ringing ahead or checking the club's Facebook page. Golf carts need 24 hours' notice, players must carry a sand bucket to repair divots, and alcohol may not be brought onto the course.
The clubhouse is available for functions, meetings and golf groups. The club also has RV sites overlooking the course for self-contained vans and motorhomes at $30 a night for a powered site, up to seven nights, with water and a 24-hour toilet; dogs are allowed on a lead and bookings are essential.
