About the course

McCracken Country Club's golf course sits within McCracken Resort on McCracken Drive, Victor Harbor, on the Fleurieu Peninsula. The resort, managed by Discovery Parks and Resorts, combines accommodation, dining and a convention centre with an 18-hole course designed by golf architect Tony Cashmore.

The course is built to an international championship standard, with undulating fairways leading to manicured greens. Water and sand are the main defences: there are 72 bunkers and 14 lakes and ponds across the layout, so taking on the hazards can pay off but brings them squarely into play. In 2012 Golf Australia magazine reviewed the course and noted the improved presentation of its fairways and greens.

The course is open to the public seven days a week. Green fees for 18 holes are $55 Monday to Friday and $65 on weekends and public holidays, with discounted rates for resort guests. Tee times are essential and can be booked online or through the pro shop on 08 8551 0299. Electric carts can be hired from the pro shop for $50. The club also offers golf memberships and hosts the annual Ian Conolly Cup team event.

The driving range is open seven days and needs no booking. The pro shop is part of the On Course Golf group and is run by PGA professional Billy Minns, who joined McCracken in June 2024 after 20 years as head professional at Broome Golf Club in Western Australia. Lessons cost $65 for 30 minutes or $110 for an hour. After a round, the McCracken Bar & Grill serves breakfast daily from 8am to 10am, lunch from 12pm to 2.30pm and dinner from 5.30pm to 8pm, seven days.
