About the course
Millicent Golf Club plays on Golf Course Road at Mount Burr, but the club's roots are in Millicent itself. Golf was being played around the town by 1904, and a club was formed at a meeting in June 1907 on a course of about 2,800 yards laid out across local paddocks. Over the following decades the game moved several times: to a private course in 1908, onto part of the "Mayura" property in 1930, to Millicent North for the 1935 season and to a new course at the racecourse, opened in April 1936. The present course at Mount Burr was officially opened in 1961.
The 18-hole layout is par 72 and measures 6,011 metres from the blue tees, 5,257 metres from the red tees and 3,202 metres on a shorter orange course. There are five par 5s, including the 506-metre 1st, the 479-metre 7th and back-to-back 466-metre holes at the 14th and 15th. The club's website has flyover videos of each hole.
Visitors are asked to book by phoning the clubhouse or by email. Green fees are $45 for 18 holes and $25 for nine, with lower rates when introduced by a member and for juniors. Fees are paid at the VendiGolf machine at the front of the clubhouse by cash or EFTPOS, and motorised carts ($45 for 18 holes and $25 for nine) can be booked online through VendiCart and must be back by 5.30pm. The course is open from 6.30am to dusk.
Competition days are worth knowing before you go: - Wednesday: ladies' day. - Thursday and Saturday: mixed competitions.
The clubhouse and bar open from 9am to 3pm on Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.
