About the course

Penola Golf Club lies on Krongart Road about 10 kilometres south of Penola, just off the Riddoch Highway, and some 40 kilometres north of Mount Gambier on the Limestone Coast.

The course is an 18-hole, par 72 layout measuring 5,884 metres from the men's tees and 5,232 metres from the women's. The ground is flat, but the course is heavily treed, with narrow fairways cut through native bushland. Greens are grass, both greens and fairways are watered all year, and bunkering is light. Birds and kangaroos are common on the course.

Visitors are welcome and can join the club's regular competitions or social games. Competitions run all year:

  • Wednesday: women's competition.
  • Thursday: men's competition.
  • Saturday: men's and women's competitions, including a women's nine-hole event at 9am.

Larger events through the year have included an opening day, an open day, an autumn tournament and a Coonawarra Cabernet Celebration golf day. The green fee is $30 whether you play nine or 18 holes, and $15 for juniors; fees are cash only, as there is no EFTPOS.

The clubhouse opens on competition days for a drink after the round, and catering and clubhouse hire can be arranged on request. The club can be reached on (08) 8737 2484 or at penolagolfclub@gmail.com.
