About the course
Robe Golf Club sits a few minutes' walk from the centre of town and dates from 1924. Its 18 holes are arranged as three loops of six that each start and finish at the clubhouse, so visitors can play six, 12 or 18 holes, although restrictions on shorter rounds may apply at times.
- Ocean 6 (holes 1 to 6): built through the 1980s and 1990s on undulating land running out towards the ocean and lighthouse and back.
- Dunes 6 (holes 7 to 12): designed by Neil Crafter and opened in November 2019 among natural sand dunes, with views over the town and bay and old Second World War radar bunkers near the 7th.
- Town 6 (holes 13 to 18): the original part of the course, with parallel holes divided by trees and small greens.
Added up from the club's hole guides, the course is par 70 and about 5,334 metres from the back tees. The 8th is a 157-metre par 3 looking back over Robe and Long Beach towards Cape Jaffa, the 9th is a 444-metre par 5 with a viewing platform at the blue tee, and the 18th is a 318-metre par 4 with out of bounds all the way down the right. Wind is a factor on the exposed holes.
Robe is a private club that welcomes green fee players seven days a week, though access can be limited on competition and event days. Fees are $50 for 18 holes, $40 for 12 and $30 for six, with lower rates when playing with a member. Visitor carts cost $45 for 18 holes and $35 for six or 12, and pull buggies and clubs can be hired. Tee times can be booked online or through the club, and booking is essential in peak periods. Visitors with a Golf ID and handicap can join Wednesday and Sunday competitions, and the Friday Chicken Run is open to all. Every player needs their own bag, groups are limited to four, dress is neat casual with closed shoes, and BYO alcohol is not allowed.
The clubhouse and golf shop are open from 8.30am to 4.30pm daily.
