About the course

King Links, known until 2026 as Ocean Dunes, is an 18-hole links on King Island's west coast, about five minutes' drive from the island airport, which is a 35-minute flight from Melbourne. Graeme Grant designed the course over 115 hectares of dunes along about two kilometres of coastline. The operator says the course is unchanged by the new name, and a 48-room on-site hotel with a restaurant and bar is due to open in early 2027.

Tees and fairways are fescue and the greens are bentgrass, designed to play firm and fast. The front nine has most of the oceanfront holes, while the back nine moves slightly inland but stays in the dunes. Several tee shots offer a risk and reward choice, and two of the par 3s play across the Southern Ocean.

  • 1st: a 500-metre par 5 that doglegs right to a green on the coast.
  • 4th: the signature hole, a 131-metre par 3 to a very small green.
  • 10th: a 240-metre par 3 on the edge of the Southern Ocean.
  • 15th: a 416-metre par 4 that shares a double green with the 12th.

The course is open to the public. For 2026 the Australian resident green fee is $220 for 18 holes and $120 for nine, with all-day golf $320; international rates are $295 and $160. Motorised carts are $55 for 18 holes and $30 for nine, electric pull buggies $20 and $15, and rental clubs $50 and $25. Tee times can be booked online through the course website, and a booking is confirmed once it is paid in full. Proof of Australian residency may be requested for resident rates.
