About the course
Albert Park Golf Course is a fully public 18-hole course in Albert Park, about two kilometres from the Melbourne CBD, beside Albert Park Lake and close to St Kilda Road. It sits around the circuit used for the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix, and most holes have views of the city skyline. The course's scorecard page describes it as the home of the Victorian PGA Championship.
The course is a par 72 of 5,743 metres from the men's tees and 5,367 metres from the women's. The front nine is the longer at 2,985 metres and par 37, with par 5s at the 6th (455 metres), 7th and 9th, while the back nine is par 35. The 5th, a 376-metre par 4, is stroke index 1, and the 11th, a 489-metre par 5, is the longest hole.
The course is open from sunrise to sunset: 6am to 8pm in spring and summer and 7am to 5.30pm in winter. Tee times are booked online and green fees must be paid in full before play; cancellations are by phone only and are not refunded. Rates vary by time of day, with twilight, nine-hole, pensioner and junior prices, so check the website for current fees. Carts, buggies and hire sets are available. Groups are limited to four, BYO alcohol is not allowed, and there is a 10-shot limit per hole. The course publishes a dress code on its website.
The pro shop is staffed by PGA professionals and handles equipment, repairs and lessons on the practice fairway or the course, including private lessons, beginner clinics and a junior program. There is also a mini golf course and a function room with a bar and terrace for up to 100 guests. Parking is reached from Queens Road or Lakeside Drive.
