About the course

Yarra Bend Golf is a public course in Yarra Bend Park, Fairfield, a few minutes from the Melbourne CBD, with the Yarra River wrapping around it on three sides. It was designed and built in the early 1930s by Mick and Vern Morcom and Claude Crockford, and a major investment in 2010 renewed the facility. It is home to the Yarra Bend Ladies Golf Club.

The 18-hole, par 70 course is parkland, with city skyline views from most holes, and is open seven days a week.

Anyone can play, and tee times are booked online. Off-peak fees, Monday to Thursday, are $52 for 18 holes and $42 for nine; from Friday to Sunday, 18 holes cost $64 before 11am and $59 after. Twilight rates start after 1pm, and seniors pay $38 for 18 holes off-peak. Motorised carts can be added when booking, and pull buggies, MGI electric buggies and standard or premium Titleist club sets are available for hire from the pro shop. Open competitions run on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 7am, with last tee off at 2pm: players with a Golf Australia handicap pay $5 on top of the green fee.

The venue also has a driving range, which hosts a Friday night league, and two 18-hole mini golf courses. Coaching includes lessons, four-week beginner clinics and junior golf on weekends during school terms. The Bend Garden Bar serves a bar menu from 11am to 3pm Monday to Thursday and a full menu from 11am to 5pm Friday to Sunday, with outdoor seating looking over the parkland to the skyline.
