About the course
Camperdown Golf Club is on Sadlers Road, about 5 kilometres from the Camperdown clocktower in the lakes and craters country of Victoria's Western District. Golf was played in Camperdown for about fifty years before the club reached its present site in 1950. Early play was by invitation only, on a private nine-hole course at Talindert, a large property east of the town, and the club itself was formed there in 1921 with about thirty men and women as members and Sir Chester Manifold as its first president.
The 18-hole course measures 5456 metres and plays to a par of 72. It is laid out inside a volcanic crater with views over Lake Gnotuk, on hilly ground with grass greens and no bunkers. Only the greens and tees are watered. Birdlife and native animals are common on the course.
Visitors can play all day for $30, nine holes cost $25, and juniors under 16 pay $10. Bookings are not needed from Sunday to Friday. Motorised carts are hired through Vendi Golf.
The clubhouse has two rooms for hire: a members' room seating 30 to 40 people and a function room for 120, with a staffed bar, club catering and kitchen hire available.
