About the course

Sandhurst Club is a golf and residential estate in Sandhurst, in Melbourne's south-east, less than 35 minutes from the city centre. The estate holds more than 1,300 homes, and the club is the official home of the PGA of Australia.

Both of its 18-hole courses were designed by five-time British Open champion Peter Thomson with the firm Thomson and Perrett, and both sit in the Melbourne sand belt area.

  • Champions Course: a sandbelt-style par 72 of 6,277 metres. Each hole is dedicated to a past champion of the PGA of Australia, with a plaque near the tee describing that player's skills.
  • North Course: an open-style par 72 of 6,478 metres that emphasises strategic play and borrows Scottish features, including a wall around the 3rd green and a burn crossing the 9th fairway.

Visitors can play either course from Sunday to Friday. Tee times open for online booking seven days ahead, with a discount for booking online, and same-day bookings are made through the golf shop on (03) 8787 7011. Groups of eight or more are handled by the club's event coordinators, and the club has 50 motorised carts for corporate golf days.

The members' dining room overlooks the North Course and the practice facilities. Heydays Pizzeria serves casual meals from 7am to 4pm Sunday to Thursday and until 8pm on Fridays and Saturdays, taking walk-ins only. The estate's sports centre has a gym, swimming pool and tennis courts, and the clubhouse hosts weddings, conferences and functions.
