About the course
Echuca Back 9 Golf Course, known to its members as "The Royal", is a nine-hole social course on McKenzie Street in Echuca, running along the bank of the Campaspe River. It was set up with veteran golfers in mind, but the flat layout suits anyone after a relaxed game, and walkers use the grounds too. Native birds are plentiful, and koalas and kangaroos turn up from time to time.
The course has grass greens and gently undulating, watered fairways lined with trees, and there are no bunkers anywhere on it.
It is open to visitors and social groups seven days a week from dawn to dusk. Tee times can be booked online at $30 for a single player, or from $60 for a group of up to four, and carts are hired through the Vendi Golf self-service system. Dress is casual, but the rule is no shirt, no shoes, no play; flat-soled shoes are expected on the greens, and soft spikes are preferred if you wear spikes.
The clubhouse has an undercover outdoor area and a large upstairs function room with a kitchen that looks out over the course. Annual memberships are available for players who want to come back regularly.
