About the course

Kyabram Parkland Golf Club plays on the Racecourse Reserve on Racecourse Road, Kyabram, where the town's first golf links opened in 1911. Golf moved around the town for decades before the present club was formed at a town hall meeting on 11 March 1958. Short of members, it took up an idea secretary Ron Stagg had read about in a magazine and turned the layout into an 18-hole par 3 course, which opened on 15 April 1961 as Victoria's first. The club became Kyabram Par Three and, in 1968, Kyabram Parkland, a name chosen for the trees members had planted and the birdlife they drew.

Grass came to the tees and fairways from 1978. In 1992 consultant Kevin Hartley planned the first two grass greens, the 1st and 18th, and over the next ten years members built all 18, along with an automated watering system. A concrete drain laid after the 1974 flood keeps the course largely flood-proof. Members also brought the men's and women's Victorian Par 3 Championships to Kyabram, and the club still hosts them.

Visitors are welcome. The social green fee is $25 for adults and $10 for juniors under 18, push buggies are free, and motorised carts are available by contacting the club. Women's competitions are on Tuesdays and Saturdays and men's on Wednesdays and Saturdays; check the clubhouse noticeboard for special events before heading out. A shirt with a collar is required, and players should carry a sand bucket to fill divots.

The clubhouse has a full bar licence and light snacks, runs bingo on Thursdays from 7.30pm and is available for private functions.
