About the course
Gisborne Golf Club is on Daly Street in Gisborne, in the Macedon Ranges, about 40 minutes from the Melbourne CBD and 20 minutes from Melbourne Airport. The 18-hole course is rich in native plants and wildlife and is home to a resident population of about 200 Eastern Grey kangaroos, which golfers often see during a round; the club also runs kangaroo tours for non-golfers.
The opening hole sets the tone: a short par 4 of 310 metres from the blue tees that bends slightly right to left, where a fairway wood off the tee stays short of the fairway bunkers and leaves a short iron to a green bunkered left and right. Four sets of tees are used: blue, white, red and yellow.
The club is semi-private. Green fee players, social groups and corporate groups are welcome, and visitors can book online or through the pro shop on (03) 5428 2698; groups of 12 or more book through the pro shop. In late October 2026 the online booking sheet listed $50 for 18 holes and $35 for nine on weekdays, and $60 and $40 on weekends. Saturday is a members-only competition day. Open competitions run on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, a combined weekly competition runs across Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and Wednesday morning is the women's competition; members of other clubs with a GA handicap are welcome. Tailored shorts and neat shirts are fine, but tracksuits, football gear, singlets and thongs are not, and metal spikes are banned.
The driving range is open to the public from dawn to dusk with no booking needed, and there is a six-hole putting green, a chipping green with a bunker, and three warm-up nets. PGA professionals Matthew Duncan, head professional since 2012, and Callum Wilkinson offer lessons and club fitting with TrackMan. The new clubhouse, with a bar, bistro and events space, is open to all.
