About the course
Shepparton Golf Club has played on its site beside the Goulburn River, about 4 km from the town centre, since 1922, when a nine-hole sand scrape course opened on the sandbank above the river. It grew to 14 holes in 1926, and the club bought neighbouring land in 1932 and 1954 to make room for a longer course. In 1956 the club engaged course architect Sam Berriman to design an 18-hole grass-green course, which opened with a new clubhouse in 1959. A ten-year program replacing all the greens finished in 1999, and the clubhouse was rebuilt after a fire in January 2014. The club celebrated its centenary in 2022. The late tour professional Jarrod Lyle was a junior at the club, and a plaque in his memory sits on the 10th tee.
The par 72 course is built on natural sandhills, so it drains well and stays playable through wet winters.
- 1st: a 451-metre par 5 that longer hitters can reach in two, with three bunkers around the green.
- 18th: a 352-metre par 4 with out of bounds down the right and a green sloping from back to front, guarded by five bunkers with the motel behind.
Visitors pay $55 for 18 holes and $38 for nine (fees from 1 March 2026), and juniors $20. Carts cost $55 for 18 holes and $35 for nine, club hire $25 and pull buggies $5. Booking tee times and carts through the pro shop is recommended. Men's competitions run on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, and a nine-hole medley is available every day.
Green fee players can use the practice fairway, for short irons only, and the putting green beside the clubhouse. The licensed clubhouse has a bar and balcony, the restaurant opens Wednesday to Saturday evenings, and 12 motel units overlook the 18th green.
