About the course
Maryborough Golf Club, formerly Royal Park Maryborough Golf Links, covers about 46 hectares on Park Road, 1.5 kilometres along the Dunolly Road from the traffic lights at the northern end of the Maryborough shopping centre. It is about two hours' drive from Melbourne. The ground has a long history: in 1854 it was the site of the Gold Commissioner's Camp, it was proclaimed a public park in 1862, and a monument to Commissioner James Daly, who named Maryborough, stands near the clubhouse. The clubhouse was built in June 1911, and the club played its first trophy match that October with twelve competitors.
The 18-hole course is gently undulating, par 70 for men and 72 for women, and can be played all year. Native trees and shrubs line the fairways, golden wattle in particular, which is the club's emblem and flowers in spring, and the bushland holds plenty of birdlife.
Visitors are welcome and can book and prepay green fees and carts through the club's public MiClub booking page after registering as a public member. Green fees on the public booking page are $40 for 18 holes and $25 for nine on weekdays, and $45 and $30 on Sundays. Motorised carts, buggies and clubs can be hired, and group bookings for social and corporate days attract reduced rates. Men's competitions are held on Tuesday and Saturday and women's on Wednesday and Saturday, with twilight nine-hole competitions in the daylight saving months.
Warm-up facilities are a practice putting green and nets. The clubhouse sells golf accessories and snacks, with complimentary tea and coffee. It is a combined golf and bowls club with two couch bowling greens, and the Fairways Bistro serves lunch from noon to 2pm and dinner from 5.30pm to 8pm every day. The club opens at 10am daily.
