About the course

Clunes Golf Club plays at 65 Golf Course Road, Clunes, and is one of the country clubs affiliated with Ballarat District Golf, the district association for the Ballarat region.

The course has 18 holes with sand scrapes rather than grass greens, along with bunkers. The district association's club listing also notes a practice green, chipping green and driving range.

Visitors can contact the club on (03) 5345 3499 or at clunesgolf@gmail.com. Power carts, push buggies and clubs are listed as available for hire, and the clubhouse opens during events rather than every day. Scoring in club events uses the Golf Australia handicap app.

The club runs an annual tournament each August. In 2026 it was a week of open events: a ladies championship (the Margaret Fox Memorial, stableford, singles and pairs) on the Tuesday, a two-person ambrose on the Wednesday and a four-ball best-ball on the Friday, both for any combination of men and women, and the Men's Clunes Gold Cup Championship, a stroke event, on the Sunday. Entry was $20 a person including a light lunch, with an 8.45am gathering for a 9.30am start, handicaps capped at 27 for men and 36 for women, and EFTPOS available on the day. The ladies championship was replayed in October 2026. Entries go through the club email.
