About the course

Meeniyan Golf Club is on the Meeniyan-Promontory Road (C444), 4 kilometres south of Meeniyan and 19 kilometres from Leongatha. The volunteer-run 18-hole course occupies about 100 acres of farmland beside Stony Creek.

The course measures 5779 metres at par 71 for men and 5166 metres at par 72 for women. It is slightly undulating and well treed, with grass greens, garden beds around tees and greens, and fairways bordered by planted trees or natural bush. Billy Creek winds through the property, and the tee shot on the 18th carries the Toonallook Wetlands, a stretch of water ringed by indigenous grasses, shrubs and trees. Koalas, echidnas and black cockatoos are often seen on the course.

Visitors are welcome, and green fees can be paid by card at a Vendi machine. Clubs, pull buggies and motorised carts can be hired, but the clubhouse is not always staffed, so phone 03 5664 7490 ahead to arrange hire; groups of more than four are asked to call in advance. Men's competitions are held on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and women's on Wednesday, and the club runs an annual tournament in April. It is affiliated with the South Gippsland District Golf Association.

Practice facilities include a practice green, a pitching range and practice nets, and a visiting professional attends. The licensed clubhouse and terrace overlook the 12th, 16th and 18th fairways, golf balls and accessories are sold there, and the kitchen and function facilities can be hired. Friday night meals are served during daylight saving months.
