About the course

Red Rocks Golf is a public par 3 golf venue on Settlement Road, Cowes, beside Red Rocks Beach on Phillip Island. Rohan and Lisa Walker began building it in 2006 as the Aussie Golf Ranch. Drought paused the work, and most of the construction was done in 2007, when about 250,000 cubic metres of earth were shaped and wetlands were built so the course could supply its own water. It opened to the public in December 2007. Moda bought the business in September 2023 and renamed it Red Rocks.

The main course, Saltwater Creek, is a nine-hole par 3 layout of 1160 metres designed by Ross Watson. It sits on sandy ground almost encircled by Saltwater Creek, with bentgrass greens built to USGA specifications and couch tees and fairways; the longest hole is the 183-metre 6th. A separate nine-hole, two-club pitch and putt course of 348 metres runs beside the dunes, with a longest hole of 54 metres, and there is also a nine-hole mini golf course.

Saltwater Creek costs $27 for nine holes and $35 for 18, with juniors under 18 paying $15 and $20. The pitch and putt costs $20 for nine holes and $25 for 18, or $10 and $18 for juniors. Tee times can be booked online, and dress is casual. Members play weekend competitions, including a monthly medal.

The clubhouse pro shop sells balls, tees and clothing, hires clubs and buggies, and arranges private lessons, clinics and group bookings, with pizza and drinks available seven days a week. Four renovated cabins on the course, sleeping two to five people, have a private path to the beach.
