About the course
The Valley Golf, Sport and Leisure is at Safety Beach on the Mornington Peninsula, a few minutes from the Mornington Peninsula Freeway. It was formerly Safety Beach Country Club and later Safety Beach Golf Club, and today it has shareholders and a board. As well as golf, the complex has tennis and pickleball courts, a swimming pool and an 18-hole mini golf course.
The 18-hole course runs through resort-style grounds with palms and water features, covering close to five kilometres, and can be walked or played with a cart.
The course is open to the public. Under prices effective from 1 October 2025, adults pay $58 for 18 holes and $35 for nine on weekdays, and $63 and $39 on weekends and public holidays. Friday twilight after 3.30pm is $38, concession players and members' guests pay $53 for 18 holes, and juniors $30. Motorised carts for two are $50 for 18 holes and $35 for nine on weekdays, $55 and $40 at weekends, and pull buggies are $10. Book online through MiClub. Neat golf wear with soft spikes or runners is required, and singlets, workwear and swimwear are not allowed.
Pro shop hours vary by season, generally 7am to 6pm in summer and 7.30am to 5pm in winter on weekdays, with earlier starts at weekends; last cart hire for 18 holes is 2pm when the shop closes at 6pm. Head professional Shane Johnson, at the club since 2011, gives lessons at $90 an hour for the public and runs four-week clinics for $100 that include two nine-hole rounds.
The bar and café has a covered patio overlooking the putting green and serves bar snacks. It opens daily from about 10am, staying open to 9pm on Fridays and 7pm on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and functions of up to 80 people can be held.
