About the course
Riverside Golf and Sports Centre is a public facility at 75 Newsom Street, Ascot Vale, on the banks of the Maribyrnong River in Melbourne's north-west. Alongside golf it has a mini golf course, a driving range, tennis courts and netball courts, which host Melbourne Netball competitions.
The golf course is nine holes, 2,561 metres and par 34, and it is fully watered. It has large, sloping bentgrass greens, well kept fairways that reward straight driving, and few bunkers.
The course is open to the public, with tee times booked online and the centre open from 7am to 6pm daily. For 2026 to 2027, adult casual fees are $37.90 for 18 holes and $29.70 for nine on weekdays, and $38.90 and $33.00 on weekends, with lower concession and junior rates. Golf carts cost $52 for 18 holes and $30.20 for nine, a buggy is $6.20 and a full set of hire clubs is $32.20. The centre notes that these fees are pending council resolution.
The driving range has Trackman ball-tracking technology, and its reopened upper level adds 18 bays with virtual golf, available in daylight hours. A bucket of 50 balls is $17.70 and 100 balls $25. Private lessons start at $86.50 for 30 minutes, and junior clinics run as well. The 18-hole mini golf course costs $9.70. Riverside Kitchen and Bar, run by the Dimattina family, serves meals and drinks from 10am, closing at 4pm on Mondays and Tuesdays and late from Wednesday to Sunday, and also caters for functions.
