About the course
Bay Views Golf Course, also known as Rosebud Public Golf Course, is in the Rosebud Park and Recreation Reserve on Elizabeth Drive, Rosebud, with views over Port Phillip Bay. The reserve was declared a public park in 1927, and in 1952 the Rosebud Golf Club and the shire began clearing land for a course designed by Mr Morcom of Kingston Heath. In 1976 it became the first course in Victoria to irrigate with recycled water. It is managed by Golf Services Management.
The course is par 69 and 5,056 metres from the blue tees, with three par 5s and six par 3s. After a gentle opener it becomes hilly, with many elevated greens and false fronts, and the 9th looks out to ships such as the Spirit of Tasmania. Waterfall Creek bushland and old grass trees border parts of the course.
- 11th: a par 3 with a steep downhill tee shot to a firm, heavily contoured green.
- 13th: the signature hole, a downhill dogleg par 5 from the highest point of the course to a very small green.
- 18th: a recently redesigned 151-metre par 3 with a quick green.
The course is open to the public every day and tee times are booked online. Fees are $64 for 18 holes and $41 for nine, with an 18-hole special of $49 on Tuesday to Thursday and unlimited golf for $35 after 3pm. Seniors pay $49 midweek. Carts cost $52 for 18 holes and $40 for nine, pull buggies $10, and hire clubs from $25. Open competitions run on Monday (nine holes), Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday, and visitors with a Golf Australia handicap can enter for a small fee on top of the green fee.
The clubhouse serves refreshments, and there are barbecue and picnic facilities in the lower car park.
