About the course
Eagle Ridge Golf Course is at 215 Browns Road, Boneo, on the Mornington Peninsula. It began as the smaller Carlogie course; in 1988 extra land was bought and work started on a new championship course designed by Kevin Hartley, a former Australian amateur champion, which opened in December 1989. The Russo family developed the course and clubhouse from 1995, a Pacific Coast Design master plan was carried out from 1999, and the clubhouse opened in October 2000. In 2007 all fairways were converted to Santa Ana couch, cutting water use by 45 per cent. The Chen family has owned the course since 2016.
The 18-hole course is hilly, with water, wetlands, tree-lined fairways and plenty of bunkers, and tees for all handicaps.
- 6th: the signature hole, with a long bunker down most of its length and a large, undulating green.
- 10th: a long uphill par 4 to a two-tier green, rated the hardest hole.
- 11th: a par 3 with water in front and right of the green.
- 18th: a par 5 with water left of the green, finishing in front of the clubhouse.
The course is open to the public. Green fees use dynamic pricing that varies by day and season, so check the online booking sheet; players 16 and under play free. There is a fleet of 50 carts, which the club recommends on the hilly layout, and walking is allowed. The dress code is smart and relaxed, with soft spikes required; work boots and singlets are not permitted. The facility is cashless.
There is a short game practice area and putting area, and lessons are available. The clubhouse hosts functions and the Peninsula Beer Garden, with local craft beer, meals and live music.
