About the course
The golf course at Joondalup Resort in Connolly, in Perth's northern suburbs, was designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr and is made up of three nine-hole courses, the Quarry, the Dune and the Lake. Any two are combined for a par 72 round.
Each nine has its own character. The Quarry is routed through a former limestone quarry, and on its 3rd to 5th holes golfers play across and around the quarry itself, with some approaches hit below a cliff about 30 metres high. The Dune crosses hilly bushland with contoured greens, tiered landing areas and thick scrub, while the Lake sits on gently rolling dune country with links-style holes, lakes and glimpses of the ocean. From the black tees the combinations measure 6265 to 6394 metres. - Quarry 3rd: a 134-metre par 3 that must carry the quarry to a large two-tier green. - Quarry 4th: a 478-metre double dogleg par 5 around a 100-metre sand hazard below a 3-metre cliff. - Lake 9th: a 488-metre par 5 with out of bounds right and a lake left of the two-tier green.
The course, practice facilities and golf academy are open to the public seven days a week, and rounds can be booked online. Green fees include a twin-share motor cart: $178 for 18 holes and $105 for nine on Mondays and Tuesdays, rising to $208 and $125 from Friday to Sunday. Twilight walking nines start at $80, resort guests pay less, and phone or email bookings carry a $5 fee. Collared shirts and golf shoes or approved footwear are required; denim, boardshorts and trackwear are not.
The driving range uses Toptracer Range Mobile and is open daily from 6.30am to 6pm (from 10.30am on Wednesdays), with 20 balls for $9, and there are two large putting greens. The resort also has a club fitting centre, a pro shop and the Country Club bar and restaurant.
