About the course
Marangaroo Golf Course is a City of Wanneroo public course on Aylesford Drive in Perth's northern suburbs, set in bushland beside the Marangaroo Conservation Reserve and near Lake Goollelal. The City opened it in 1988, and Belgravia Leisure manages it on the council's behalf. The designer was Murray Dawson, who planned more than 30 courses in Western Australia, and his brief here was a gentle but interesting test through the natural bush.
The 18-hole course is par 72 and measures 5,616 metres from the back tees. The fairways are lined with trees and native plants, many holes dogleg, there are a number of blind tee shots, and the course is home to hundreds of kangaroos. The 11th is the hole the club singles out: a 422-metre par 5 with a narrow fairway that doglegs twice and crosses a hill. Drinking fountains are on the 1st, 5th, 9th and 15th holes.
The course is open to the public seven days a week. Online booking is recommended; walk-ins are accepted, but players with a booking get priority. Equipment hire is available, and several social clubs play here each week.
Practice facilities are an 80-metre all-grass driving range and two practice greens. The pro shop offers club fitting, and PGA professionals run individual lessons, junior clinics and development squads. The licensed cafe and bar seats about 70, overlooks the 18th green and has a shaded outdoor area, serving coffee, burgers, sandwiches, cakes and pies.
In May 2026 the City announced plans, subject to planning approval, for a $16 million upgrade at Marangaroo, including a new clubhouse with an integrated pro shop and change rooms and a two-level, 44-bay undercover driving range, with construction possible from August 2026.
