About the course
Sun City Country Club is at Yanchep, about 45 minutes north of Perth and 25 minutes from Joondalup, between Yanchep National Park and Yanchep Lagoon. The course was designed by Bob Green of Golf and Recreation Planners with Murray Dawson, the club's first captain, and the first round was played on 27 July 1974 after 15 months of construction. It hosted the WA PGA three times between 1975 and 1977.
The original layout was known for long holes, dogleg fairways and greens with long, sweeping breaks. Ogilvy Clayton Cocking Mead have since been reworking the course under a master plan, replacing walls of trees on the dogleg corners with lower-lying hazards and adding shorter par 4s and a short par 3. Golf Australia magazine lists Sun City in its Top 100 courses. The course is par 72 and about 5,960 metres from the men's tees.

- 6th: a 398-metre par 4 and stroke index 2.
- 11th: a 385-metre par 4 and stroke index 1.
- 15th: the longest hole, a 487-metre par 5.
Public golfers can play outside competition times. Midweek green fees are $55 for 18 holes and $39 for nine, rising to $75 and $55 on Sundays and public holidays. Midweek carts cost $55 for 18 holes and $40 for nine. Visitors book online after registering as a public member. Dress rules apply on the course and practice areas: collared shirts and tailored shorts or trousers, with no denim, cargo shorts or gym gear.
There is a large grass driving range (closed on Mondays from 11am to 1pm), a chipping area and a putting green, and the PGA professional gives lessons. The pro shop opens from 7am to 5pm on weekdays and to 5.30pm on weekends. The clubhouse serves lunch from Tuesday to Saturday, bar snacks all day and a twilight dinner on Friday nights.
