About the course
Murrumbidgee Country Club lies on Kambah Pool Road in Kambah, about 15 minutes' drive from the Canberra city centre, beneath the Brindabella Mountains. The course occupies more than 90 hectares, and the club has proposed housing on a small part of the land to fund the upkeep of the course and clubhouse.
The main course is 18 holes and par 72, measuring 6,453 metres from the back tees, and the club rates several tee layouts between 5,474 and 6,453 metres. In 2022 course architect Ben Davey presented a bunker masterplan to members, to be carried out over about five years as funds allow. The club also has the Green Course, an 18-hole short course of 3,951 metres rated by Golf NSW for handicap play. It hosts a nine-hole medley every Thursday morning and the annual ACT Short Course Open.
The public is welcome. Social rounds are booked by phoning the pro shop on (02) 6296 5580, as visitors cannot book through the online system. Green fees are $55 for 18 holes and $45 for nine from Tuesday to Friday, $35 for either on Monday, and $65 and $55 on weekends and public holidays. Afternoon rates after 2pm in winter or 3pm in summer are $35 on weekdays and $40 on weekends, and juniors pay $20. Visitors with a GolfID handicap can play in club competitions with approval from the captains or the general manager. Players should arrive 20 minutes before their tee time, carry a sand bucket and have their own set of clubs; clubs, carts and pull buggies are for hire. Collared shirts are required, and T-shirts, tracksuit pants and board shorts are not allowed.
The clubhouse looks out over the course, and its restaurant, closed on Mondays, can cater for functions of up to 120 guests.
