About the course
Belmont Golf & Bowls is on the Pacific Highway at Marks Point, on the strip of land between Lake Macquarie and the Pacific Ocean, about two hours north of Sydney. The course opened in 1952 as Belmont Golf Club and has been upgraded steadily since. In 2018 the golf club merged with Belmont Bowling Club, and two covered bowling greens were built after the merger.
The 18-hole, par 72 course is described by the club as a championship links, with rolling fairways, trees and the ocean as a backdrop to many holes.
- 3rd: a 170-metre par 3.
- 4th: a 462-metre par 5.
- 9th: the longest hole, a 488-metre par 5 from the blue tees (501 metres from the black), with water down the whole left side and a green guarded by two bunkers on the right and a central hump.
Visitors can book social golf online up to six days ahead and must check in at the golf shop 15 minutes before teeing off; reciprocal members and those bringing juniors book by phone. Visitor green fees from February to November are $90 for 18 holes and $50 for nine, rising to $95 and $55 in December and January. Carts cost $55 for 18 holes and $40 for nine, and twilight golf after 4pm is $50 for unlimited holes. Visitors can also book into competitions.
The driving range has 18 Trackman bays and a practice putting green, opening from 6.30am daily, with visitor buckets from $10. The golf shop offers lessons and club fitting. The cafe opens from 8am, the bistro serves lunch daily from 11am to 3pm and dinner from Wednesday to Saturday, 5pm to 8.30pm, and the club runs a courtesy bus.
