About the course

Binalong Community Club sits in the village of Binalong on the south-west slopes, 37 kilometres north-west of Yass and about an hour from Canberra. The ground started out as a horse racing venue in 1857. A nine-hole golf course was added in 1927, and a second nine in the 1960s took it to 18 holes. The clubhouse dates from 1967.

The course has 18 sand greens and plays to par 70 from the blue tees, at roughly 500 metres above sea level. It has a mix of holes that includes a couple of long par 3s and a short par 5 that longer hitters can reach in two. Binalong styles itself the home of the World Sand Greens Championships, a Golf NSW event on the WPGA Tour. The 2026 men's championship was played there on 26 and 27 September 2026 for a $125,000 purse, with 90 professionals and amateurs in the field.

Social golf is available seven days a week on an honesty box system, at $10 a round according to Golf NSW. Club competitions are played on Sundays.

The club also has a bowling green, a family-friendly bar and bistro, and caravan parking with toilet access. The bar opens from 5pm on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, with limited Friday hours in winter, and meals are served from 5.30pm on Wednesday and Sunday.
