About the course

Castle Hill Country Club is a private golf club on Spurway Drive at Norwest, in Sydney's Hills district, about 40 minutes from the CBD by the M2 and M7 motorways. The club held its first meeting in May 1950, bought the "Heywood" property in 1951 and opened a temporary nine-hole course that October, and was officially opened in August 1952. It marked its 75th anniversary in October 2025.

The par 72 championship course covers 167 acres of fairways and bushland, with Bunya pines and convict-cut sandstone on the course and practice range. It measures 6213 metres from the black tees, with a slope rating of 132. A course master plan by Newton, Grant and Spencer was adopted in 1992 and completed in 2006, and a later improvement program costing about $5 million upgraded all 18 holes and added three spare greens. The club has hosted the Australian PGA Championship, won there by Greg Norman in 1985, as well as the NSW Open, the Canon Challenge and the NSW PGA Seniors Championship.

Play is mainly for members and their guests, and the club also runs corporate golf days. Green fees are not published on the club's website, so contact the golf office or pro shop about access.

The pro shop is open daily from 6am to 6pm, and its PGA professionals offer individual lessons seven days a week with video analysis. The clubhouse has been refurbished in recent years and hosts weddings, functions and conferences.
