About the course

Pennant Hills Golf Club is a private members' club at Beecroft in Sydney's Hills District, a few minutes from the M2 Motorway. Golf was first played on the Copeland Road site in 1906 by the Beecroft Golf Club, which lost the land in 1910 and disbanded before 1914. The present club was incorporated as Pennant Hills District Golf Club in February 1923 after Robert Vicars secured about 97 acres of bushland, and its 18-hole course, designed by 1923 Australian Open champion Tom E. Howard, opened on 22 March 1924. The club owns its land and has produced players including the amateur Tony Gresham and the professional Peter Fowler.

The course is a 5,925-metre par 71 through tree-lined bushland, with the gully of Devlin's Creek crossing several holes, including the 1st and 18th. It has hosted the NSW men's and women's amateur championships, and the club says a course transformation, Project R&M, is under way.

1st: a 456-metre par 5 with trees on both sides, out of bounds right and bunkers cut into the front of the green.
18th: a 167-metre par 3, all carry and slightly uphill to a green with bunkers left and right.

There are no public tee times. International visitors may enquire about visitor tee times through the club's online form or the pro shop on (02) 8860 5860, and no visitor green fee is published. A fleet of 30 electric carts must be booked ahead, MGI lithium buggies cost $20 for 18 holes, and hire sets with a pull buggy are $66.

The pro shop opens from 6am most days (7am on Tuesdays), sells equipment and apparel, repairs clubs and has PGA professionals for lessons. The clubhouse has a café that opens early most mornings and a members' bar serving food from 11am to 2pm.
