About the course
Castlecove Golf Club is at 68 Deepwater Road, Castle Cove, about 12 kilometres north of the Sydney CBD and 4 kilometres from Chatswood. The course was laid out to a design by Walter Burley Griffin, the American architect who planned Canberra and who was working on the neighbouring suburb of Castlecrag from 1925. It opened on 12 April 1932 as the first nine-hole course on Sydney's lower North Shore. A development approval granted on 30 May 2025 covers a redevelopment with Taylor Developments Group that includes a new clubhouse and pro shop.
The course has nine holes with 14 tee positions, so an 18-hole round plays differently on the second loop. Golf NSW lists it as par 32 for each nine and par 64 for 18 holes, at 3,872 metres from the blue tees. It is set among bushland with wide views, and rock wallabies have been seen on early rounds. Nine holes take under two hours and 18 holes under four.
Public golf fits around member competitions. Social times are any time on Monday, Friday and Sunday, after 1:30pm on Tuesday, before 7:15am or after 11:30am on Wednesday, before 7:30am or after 11am on Thursday, and after 2pm on Saturday. The club suggests calling the pro shop to confirm. Visitors may also enter men's, women's and mixed competitions. Public green fees are $53 for 18 holes and $36 for nine on weekdays, and $58 and $43 at weekends, with tee times booked through GolfNow. Players are asked to fill divots with a sand bucket and to use only a putter on the greens.
The pro shop is run by a PGA and ALPG professional, with 30-minute lessons at $70 and Saturday afternoon clinics at $45. The club also has the Castle Bar, three synthetic tennis courts and FootGolf.
