About the course
Northbridge Golf Club covers most of Northbridge Park, a heritage-listed Crown reserve about 7 kilometres from the Sydney CBD, falling steeply from Sailors Bay Road to Long Bay and Wreck Bay on Middle Harbour. Nine holes designed by the council engineer, Hugh Douglas Robb, were built under an emergency relief work scheme and opened by NSW Premier B. S. B. Stevens on 13 April 1935, and the course became 18 holes in 1947. The club, founded in 1934, leases an Inter-war Georgian Revival clubhouse with Spanish Mission touches, and the course remains a public one.
The course is a par 64 of 4,216 metres from the black tees, made up of nine par 3s, eight par 4s and a single par 5.
- 5th: the signature hole, a 184-metre par 3 from an elevated tee to a small green.
- 11th: a 230-metre par 3 rated the hardest hole, with a dam left and out of bounds right.
- 13th: the only par 5, 414 metres, with a dam crossing the fairway about 200 metres out.
Public play is available seven days, with online bookings opening two weeks ahead at 6am. Green fees Monday to Thursday are $53 for 18 holes and $39 for nine; Friday to Sunday and public holidays they are $69 and $43, with twilight rates after 2pm (4pm in daylight saving). Members hold competitions at weekends, so visitor times are limited, and open competitions for players with a GA handicap run on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Carts cost $55 for 18 holes and must be booked, and every player needs their own set of clubs (hire sets $40).
The golf shop offers lessons with PGA professionals, club fitting and repairs. The clubhouse bar opens 10am to 9pm daily, and the restaurant serves lunch daily and dinner Tuesday to Sunday.
