About the course
Newgreens Chatswood is the redeveloped home of Chatswood Golf Club, set in a leafy valley off Beaconsfield Road on Sydney's Lower North Shore, looking over the Lane Cove River. The precinct is an alliance between Chatswood Golf Club, Pariter and Watermark Living, with a clubhouse holding a restaurant, café, gym and event spaces.
The club describes the layout, designed by Neil Crafter, as Australia's first purpose-built 12-hole course. It measures 2,871 metres to a par of 44. Several holes rework holes from the old course:
- 2nd: the only par 5, 464 metres, played from high tees into a valley with a pond outside the dogleg.
- 3rd: a 183-metre downhill par 3 across a lake to one of the largest greens on the course.
- 11th: a 238-metre par 4 based on the old 17th, played from elevated tees across Swaines Creek to a green within reach of longer hitters.
The course is open to the public and tee times should be booked online in advance. Green fees for 12 holes are $49 Monday to Thursday and $59 on Fridays, weekends and public holidays, with twilight rates of $39 midweek and $49 at weekends, and $25 for those 16 and under. Carts cost $45 ($30 twilight) and need a signed waiver; hire sets start at $39. A round takes about three hours. Dress is relaxed, but enclosed shoes are required and singlets are not allowed.
There is a practice putting green and practice nets. The pro shop is staffed from 6am to 6pm daily, though lessons are not currently offered. Tempo Cafe & Bistro opens daily from 6am, and Dodici serves Italian dinners Wednesday to Saturday.
