About the course

Coonabarabran Golf Club is on River Road on the outskirts of Coonabarabran, in the state's North West. It is a not-for-profit club run for the local community, and it was a finalist for NSW Country Club of the Year in 2018 and a winner at the 2021 ClubsNSW Clubs and Community Awards.

The course has nine holes with grass greens and 18 sets of tees, so the second loop of a full round is played from different tee positions, and it is rated par 72. The clubhouse, known as the 19th Hole, overlooks the 2nd hole. Carts must be kept back from the edges of the greens.

The course is open seven days a week all year, and social golfers are welcome. Social green fees are $20 for 18 holes and $15 for nine, and carts cost $30 for 18 holes and $15 for nine, booked by phoning ahead. Pay at the bar during opening hours; outside bar hours, payment is made at the side of the clubhouse. Weekly competitions:

Tuesday: veterans nine holes, 12pm tee-off.
Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday: members' 18-hole competitions, usually stableford.
Thursday: a nine-hole competition open to social golfers.
Sunday: the nine-hole Chicken Run, open to all, from 8.30am.

The clubhouse has snooker and darts that are free to use, Keno, Friday night meat draws from 6.30pm, and the Lotus Chinese Restaurant, open Tuesday to Sunday. Club patrons can also stay at a free camping ground on the property.
