About the course

Tooraweenah Golf Club plays on the Tooraweenah Showground in Yootha Road, Tooraweenah, a small village at the foot of the Warrumbungle National Park in Central NSW. The showground was left to the town and became the course when a group of locals formed the club in the 1980s; the club's own site gives both 1984 and 1989 as its starting date. Volunteers cleared the ground and laid out the tees and greens, and trees have since been planted and watered on what was bare, dry land.

The course is on relatively flat ground with views across to the Warrumbungle mountains. It began as a nine-hole layout and more holes have been added since; the current number of holes and the par are not published online.

The club is run by volunteers and is affiliated with Golf NSW, so members can hold a Golf Australia handicap and enter open competitions at other affiliated clubs. Casual rounds can be played whenever the course is open for a nominal fee per round, with cards kept in a box on the 1st tee, and non-members and guests can play in the club's sponsor days on payment of a nomination fee. Check the current amounts with the club. Upcoming events are posted on the club's Facebook page.

Facilities are simple: a bar and a pavilion, and the grounds are also hired out for weddings, parties and other social gatherings. The Mountain View Hotel, a short walk from the course, serves meals and has rooms, and the area has other accommodation, from caravan parks and cabins to motels. The club's email address is tooragolfclub@gmail.com.
