About the course
Gloucester Golf Club, which also trades as Gloucester Country Club, is at 4651 The Bucketts Way just outside Gloucester, a little over three hours' drive from Sydney and close to Barrington Tops. Golf in the town began in 1910 on a sand-green course near Ravenshaw Street, then moved in 1920 and again after 1924. In 1973 the club sold its 40-acre nine-hole course to the shire council and bought a dairy farm on The Bucketts Way. The new course, laid out by a Sydney architect with room to grow to 18 holes, opened on 19 June 1976, and the club marks 50 years on the site in 2026.
The course has nine holes with a par of 36: two par 5s, two par 3s and five par 4s, with views of the Bucketts range. Played as 18 holes it measures 6,075 metres from the blue tees and 5,308 metres from the red. Holes run uphill and downhill past water hazards to small, gently contoured bentgrass greens. The 5th, a 355-metre par 4, plays downhill from the tee with out of bounds on the left and a sharp bend to the right.
The course is open dawn to dusk every day and bookings are only needed for large groups. Social green fees are $50 for 18 holes and $35 for nine, and carts cost $55 for 18 holes and $35 for nine; clubs and buggies can also be hired. Social play fits around the competitions: veterans on Tuesday, women on Wednesday and medley events on Saturday morning, with visitors holding a GA handicap welcome at $35.
The clubhouse has a bar, the Fairway Restaurant on Friday and Saturday nights, a function room for up to 100 and a courtesy bus on Friday and Saturday evenings.
