About the course
Howlong Golf Resort is a community-focused, not-for-profit golf club and resort just off the Riverina Highway at Howlong, on the Murray River midway between Albury and Corowa and close to the Rutherglen wine region. Accommodation in studio and apartment units sits within 50 metres of the course.
The 18-hole course plays to par 70 for men and 72 for women, at 5,375 metres from the Windmill tees on the Golf NSW scorecard. It is flat, irrigated year-round and narrow, with couch fairways, creeping bent greens, a mix of doglegs and water hazards, and bunkers placed to reward straight hitting. The greens vary in size, with several tiers and subtle breaks.
- 5th: a 120-metre par 3 with sand on both sides.
- 9th: a left-to-right dogleg with water at driving distance.
- 10th: a narrow par 4 with a large ironbark overhanging the fairway.
- 17th: a long par 3 over water.
- 18th: a drivable par 4 with water on the right.
Social golf runs seven days and non-members can book tee times online up to 12 months ahead, or through the pro shop, open 7am to 5pm daily. Social green fees on the online tee sheet are $45 for 18 holes and $35 for nine; competition fees are $17, or $12 for nine-hole events, with extra fees possible for visitors. A Play and Stay package costs $99 per person per night with unlimited golf and breakfast. Competitions run most days, including a Tuesday medley stableford and a Friday nine-hole chook run.
Facilities include ten undercover practice bays, a putting green, a pro shop with coaching and junior golf, Fairways Dining, bowls, croquet, a saltwater pool and a courtesy bus.
