About the course

Kooindah Waters Golf Club is at Wyong on the Central Coast, about 90 minutes north of Sydney and an hour from Newcastle, and shares its site with the Mercure Kooindah Waters resort. The course was designed by architect Ross Watson together with former Australian Open winner Craig Parry.

The championship layout measures 6,083 metres and plays to par 72. It is built around natural wetlands, lakes and ponds, and is divided into three precincts of distinct character. The design rewards accuracy and careful placement, sleeper retaining walls and rustic bunkering are a recurring feature, and the par-3 17th is played to an island green.

The course is open to the public seven days a week. On weekdays a walking round costs $75 for 18 holes and $50 for nine; on weekends and public holidays it is $105 and $60, and weekend nine-hole bookings are only taken after 3pm. Twilight golf, after 3pm in winter and 4pm in daylight saving, is $40 on weekdays and $50 on weekends. Carts cost extra, $55 for 18 holes and $35 for nine, and hire clubs are $50. Single bookings may be paired with other players, weekends are busy, and the club suggests beginners play after 3pm.

The golf shop, led by head professional Mark Churcher, stocks equipment and apparel, and tuition is available seven days. Practice facilities, locker rooms and showers are on site. Groups of 12 or more can book group golf packages, and corporate days of 80 players or more are given a shotgun start. After the round, Karinyas Restaurant and Bar at the resort serves meals with indoor and outdoor seating.
