About the course

Mangrove Mountain Memorial Club & Golf Course is on Hallards Road at Central Mangrove, in the hinterland of the Central Coast, about 40 minutes from Sydney according to Golf NSW. The club dates from 1919 and the golf course opened in 1974. In the early years the course was rough country, and club lore has players burning off the rough to find lost balls. Membership has since grown from 20 to about 500.

The course is a nine-hole layout through undulating bushland, played twice from alternate tees for an 18-hole round of par 69 for men and 71 for women, 4885 metres from the blue tees. The clubhouse looks over the countryside and, on a clear day, out to whitecaps on the ocean. The club runs an annual Mangrove Open.

Visitors can play any day. Weekday green fees are $40 for 18 holes and $30 for nine, rising to $45 and $35 on weekends. Twilight rates apply after 3pm (4pm in daylight saving), and a midweek deal of 18 holes plus a cart costs $55 a person when two play together. Carts, pull buggies and rental clubs are available. Tee times are booked online or through the pro shop on (02) 4373 1075. Competitions run on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and visiting golfers pay $35 to enter.

The new clubhouse has a pro shop, the Waratah Dining restaurant, an alfresco balcony and the Anzac Function Room. The club also has the only FootGolf course on the Central Coast, open every day after 4pm.
