About the course

Moruya Golf Club is on Evans Street in Moruya, on the Eurobodalla coast, about 1.5 hours from Canberra and 3.5 hours from Sydney. Work on the course started in 1914 and golf was first played in 1925, on nine holes with sand greens laid out around the Moruya Showground and racecourse. Al Howard redesigned the nine and introduced grass greens in 1966. Three holes were added between 1982 and 1984 and six more in 1988, working with long-time member Jim Marsden, and the full 18 opened on 1 October 1988. The course hosted the NSW South Coast Open in 2020 and 2021 and PGA Australia's NSW/ACT state championships in 2021 and 2022. It is watered with treated recycled water.

Social golf is available seven days and competitions run six days a week. Green fees are $60 for 18 holes and $35 for nine midweek, and $70 for 18 on weekends and through summer (December to February). Carts with GPS are $50 for 18 and $30 for nine, hire clubs are $30 and $20, and pull buggies $5. Tee times can be booked online. The weekly program:

  • Monday: veterans nine holes
  • Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday: 18-hole medley competitions
  • Wednesday: women's 18 holes
  • Friday: social play only
  • Sunday: Eagles from 7.30am

The pro shop opens at 7am daily. PGA professional Andrew Booth offers private lessons, playing lessons and club fitting, a mixed clinic runs at 10am on Fridays and junior clinics are held on Tuesday afternoons. The clubhouse and cafe open at 9am, and the bistro serves lunch from 11.30am to 2.30pm and dinner from 5.30pm to 8.30pm seven days. A courtesy bus runs from Tuesday to Saturday, and there are electric vehicle chargers on site.
