About the course

Narooma Golf Club is on Ballingalla Street in Narooma, and its clubhouse stands on cliffs above the Pacific Ocean, looking north along the coast, east to Montague Island and south to Glasshouse Rocks.

The course is a par 72 of 5,785 metres from the black Seahorse tees, with Montague (white), Wagonga (green) and Gulaga (orange) tees for shorter rounds. The front nine is a par 35 and the back nine a par 37. Six holes sit high on the cliffs above the ocean, while the back nine heads inland through tall timber and then around a large lake that is in play on six holes.

1st: a 385-metre par 4 to an elevated green, best approached a little long so the ball feeds back down the slope.
3rd: known as Hogan's Hole after Paul Hogan filmed an advertisement there, a 137-metre par 3 played across the ocean to a small cliff-top green, where the wind decides the club.
18th: a 463-metre par 5 to finish.

Visitors book social and competition golf through the pro shop on 02 4476 0507, open seven days. Green fees are $90 for 18 holes, $55 for 12 holes and $35 for six, and visitors in a competition pay $70. Cart hire is $60 for 18 holes, $40 for 12 and $30 for six, with club hire at $20 and buggies at $6. The Saturday open medley starts from 6.30am, and golf packages with accommodation are offered.

The pro shop is run by AAA-rated professional Colin Holmes, a PGA member since 1990, who gives individual and group lessons and handles club fitting and repairs, and a Golf Tech Centre offers swing and speed analysis. The clubhouse has a public bar, lounge, two outdoor decks and the Seahorse Brasserie & Cafe, open from 10am, with lunch from 11.30am to 2pm daily and dinner from 5.30pm, until 8pm Sunday to Thursday and 8.30pm on Friday and Saturday.
