About the course

Palm Beach Golf Club was founded in 1924 and sits near the tip of the Barrenjoey Peninsula, about 40 kilometres north of Sydney, which the club puts at around fifty minutes' drive from the CBD. The course lies between Pittwater, whose beach forms its western boundary, and the dunes of Governor Phillip Park on the ocean side, with Barrenjoey Lighthouse on the headland to the north and views to Lion Island.

It is a nine-hole course played twice for a par 64 over 4,240 metres, with a slope rating of 115. Palms, pines and paperbarks dot the layout, and the club names the par-3 2nd, in the south-east corner, as its signature hole. The course record on the revised layout is 59.

The course is open to the public. Tee times can be booked online after registering as a public member, or through the pro shop on (02) 9974 4079 (option 1). Weekday green fees are $47 for 18 holes and $39 for nine, rising to $52 and $42 at weekends and on public holidays, with lower rates for seniors, pensioners, university students and school students. Carts cost $45 for 18 holes and $35 for nine, and hire clubs $27. Competitions are held on Tuesdays (women), Thursdays and Saturdays (men and women), with social play available every day. On the course socks must be worn, thongs are not allowed and men may not wear T-shirts.

The pro shop opens daily from 6.30am or 7am until early evening, sells equipment, hires clubs and carts, and offers lessons with the club professional. The clubhouse across Beach Road has a first-floor balcony and a restaurant serving lunch Tuesday to Sunday and dinner on Friday and Saturday.
