About the course

Parkes Golf Club is on London Road in Parkes, in the Central West. The course is set among trees and gentle slopes, and was redesigned in 2023 with USGA-specification greens. Parkes Shire is also home to the Parkes Radio Telescope.

The course is a par 72 of 6,166 metres from the blue markers and 5,971 metres from the whites, with a slope rating of 127. The fairways are kikuyu and tree-lined, the tees TifTuf couch and the greens bent grass. Distance posts mark 200, 150 and 100 metres to the centre of the green, and the club's online course guide has flyovers of every hole.

  • 1st: an unusual opener, a 189-metre par 3.
  • 3rd: the longest hole, a 511-metre par 5.
  • 7th: a 432-metre par 4.
  • 18th: a 466-metre par 5 to finish.

Visitors don't need to be members, and social tee times are available every day. Saturdays can be limited by competitions, which are also held on Wednesdays and Thursdays and are open only to financial members. Book through the pro shop by phone between 8am and 5pm. From 1 January 2026 the visitor fee is $37.50 for 18 holes and $25 for nine. Carts cost $45 and $35. Dress is neat and casual: no singlets, thongs, open sandals or work boots, and no steel spikes. Carrying a sand bucket is compulsory.

The pro shop is open daily and stocks the major brands, hires gear and carts, and offers lessons with the PGA professional. There are hitting nets and a practice green behind the clubhouse. The club also hosts functions, runs a courtesy bus and stages the annual Parkes Open in September.
