About the course

Queanbeyan Golf Club, known locally as the QGC, is on Brown Street in East Queanbeyan, within walking distance of the town centre and a short drive from Canberra. The first recorded game in the district was played in August 1896, and by 1914 golfers were playing regularly on public recreation land east of the river. The club itself was formed in 1924 at a meeting in a house on Booth Street, next to the present clubhouse.

The 18-hole course is a par 70 with tree-lined fairways and quick greens. In 2026 the club began planning a redevelopment of its site with partners Colliers and Eight Mile Planning, so check for any changes before visiting.

Social golf is available subject to availability; book through the pro shop on (02) 6297 2542. The fees on the club's website date from December 2024, so confirm current rates when booking. Women's competitions run on Tuesdays, Fridays (medley), Saturdays and Sundays, and men's on Wednesdays, Fridays (medley), Saturdays and Sundays. On the course, collared shirts and soft-spike golf shoes or suitable sports shoes are required, and football shorts, tracksuits, thongs and sandals are not permitted.

The pro shop is run by head professional Jake Nagle, grandson of major champion Kel Nagle, who has been at the club since 2007. It offers cart hire, lessons with PGA coaches, club fitting and repairs. The clubhouse has a bar and lounge, TAB and Keno, and an outdoor deck overlooking the 18th green. VIBE Bistro serves lunch Tuesday to Sunday from 11.30am to 2.30pm and dinner Tuesday to Saturday from 5.30pm to 8.30pm.
