About the course

Riverside Oaks Golf Resort covers 587 acres of bushland beside the Hawkesbury River at Cattai, about 80 minutes from the Sydney CBD, and has operated for more than 30 years. Its original course, the 18-hole Gangurru, is the one open for play. The resort's second layout, the Bob Harrison-designed Bungool course, has been closed since July 2022 because of flood damage.

Gangurru is a par 72 of 6,311 metres. It has hosted the Australian TPC, the Australian PGA Championship and the NSW PGA Championship, and Golf Australia has ranked it 96th among the country's public access courses. All the bunkers have been rebuilt, a few new ones added, and the greens and fairways have been through an improvement program. Kangaroos graze on the course, and play is cart only.

The course is open to the public. Tee times are booked online after registering as a public member, and online payments are not refunded unless the course superintendent closes the course. The resort's golf page lists green fees, including a shared cart, of $105 per person on weekdays and $130 on weekends and public holidays, with a $25 surcharge for a player riding alone. Social groups of 16 or more are quoted on request, and stay-and-play packages pair golf with a night in the resort's rooms or group lodges.

Practice facilities include a 20-bay weatherproof driving range more than 250 metres long, several short-game areas and three putting greens. PGA professionals run private and group lessons and junior programs, and the pro shop hires full sets of clubs, including women's and left-handed sets. The RSO Bar overlooks the course and serves breakfast and lunch, with later trading on Friday and Saturday nights, and the clubhouse has a function room for up to 220 guests.
