About the course

Safety Beach Golf Club is an 18-hole seaside course at Safety Beach, about 20 minutes' drive north of Coffs Harbour, laid out between the Pacific Ocean and Darkum Creek. It is one of the venues of the Wyong Leagues Group.

The par-72 course has generous fairways and greens that are within reach, and the challenge comes from well-placed bunkers, lakes and other hazards, tricky pin positions and changeable ocean breezes. Kangaroos are a common sight. Course ratings are 73 (slope 128) from the men's blue tees, 71 (slope 126) from the men's white tees and 74 (slope 132) from the women's red tees.

8th: a long par 4 with out of bounds along the left, a creek, a group of bunkers and a smallish green.
11th: a par 3 over water to a sloping, multi-level green.

Social and visitor rounds are booked by phone with the pro shop, which is open from 7am to 5pm daily. Members book online. Dress regulations apply and are published on the club website.

The pro shop is owned and run by PGA club professional Terry Perfrement. It stocks the major brands, offers custom club fitting, and hires out buggies and carts, and lessons for beginners through to A-grade players are available through the Safety Beach Golf & Teaching Academy. The venue trades from 7am to 8pm daily, with a happy hour from 4pm to 6pm Monday to Friday and meat tray raffles on Friday and Saturday evenings.
