About the course
The Coast Golf Club wraps around Little Bay, about 12 kilometres south of the Sydney CBD along Anzac Parade and 8 kilometres east of the airport. Its origins are in the Coast Hospital, later Prince Henry Hospital, which had a staff golf course in various layouts from about 1922. The hospital board revived the course in the early 1960s, and the Coast Golf and Recreation Club opened in May 1965, with the former hospital laundry, dating from about 1899, converted into the clubhouse. The course reached 18 holes by the early 1970s. Housing development led to a redesign of the 7th and 10th in the early 2000s, producing the current par 70.
The course is a clifftop links with an ocean view from every hole, so wind direction and strength shape each round. The first four tee shots each head in a different compass direction.
- 4th: a 180-metre par 3 from the blue tees, one of the club's signature holes, with rocks to the left.
- 7th: a 403-metre par 4 that the club calls its hardest hole, with hazards on both sides and a fairway sloping towards trouble.
- 13th: a 398-metre par 4 with out of bounds along the whole left side.
The public can play seven days a week outside member competition times, with online bookings opening seven days ahead. Summer 2026 rates are $85 for 18 holes on weekdays before 2pm (Thursday mornings are $120), $120 at weekends and $55 after 3:30pm midweek; international visitors pay $175 plus a $25 booking fee. Open competitions on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays are available to affiliated handicap holders, booked through the pro shop. Electric carts are $60 for visitors.
The golf shop stocks equipment and clothing, offers custom fitting and hires clubs, buggies and a fleet of Club Car electric carts. Junior classes and women's beginner programs run during the week. Henry's at The Coast, in the heritage-listed clubhouse, serves lunch daily and dinner from Wednesday to Sunday.
