About the course
The Wentworth Orange is an 18-hole golf course and club on Ploughmans Lane in Orange. The land was once a paddock, and the course is now part of Orange Ex-Services' Club (OESC) following an amalgamation, which has funded an extensive upgrade programme.
The course has grass greens, 22 sand bunkers, three dams, young trees and a small pine forest. Recent work has included a new irrigation ring main and pump house with fairway watering, a fix for the wet hollow on the 9th fairway, rehabilitation of greens, tees and fairways, and new concrete and gravel cart paths. The 18th has a penalty area with its own drop zone.
Social golf is booked through the club's online booking portal. Green fees are not published on the website, so check the portal or call the pro shop on (02) 6361 4505; questions about the competition schedule go to the pro shop by email. Motorised carts and pull buggies are available for hire.
Head professional Todd Brakenridge, who has worked in the pro shop for more than 20 years, handles coaching and club fitting, with regular free fitting days, club repairs and clinics. Two indoor golf simulators can be booked for year-round practice and virtual rounds.
The clubhouse has the Wentworth Cafe and Restaurant, open seven days, a downstairs halfway house and cafe after the 9th, a terrace and sports lounge with screens overlooking the course, a function room, Keno and TAB, an indoor children's playground and a courtesy bus. The club also sells golf packages for corporate and charity days.
